...is manipulated by a magma mermaid to munch after a mini narwhal.

This is for a collaborative zine project where we each a letter and word and a corresponding letter and word to illustrate, to tie all of our works together in an alphabet type book. My word was Mushroom, and the corresponding word was narwhal. This was way too much fun to color.

EDIT: What the- A Daily Deviation, are you serious!? This is so cool ;A; Thanks so so much to :iconsavagefrog: and :iconlaserbeast: , and everyone else who has commented/faved/watched! I am so excite :D

I love this piece! It' very playful and dynamic (with the lizard leading the eye around the piece and the mushrooms helping keep the eye focused inside). And the colors are very nice. Love the details and the designs of the characters. Also, compositionally I think this is a strong piece.

Here are a few things I think you can experiment with if you'd like:

It would be interesting I think to see what would happen if you bump up the saturation of your colors a bit. If not throughout the entire piece then perhaps on the magma mermaid. Because she has all that light emitting from the magma part of her tail, more saturated colors would help in that area to make it pop.

I've also noticed that a lot of the line art color is in the darker side. Maybe try playing with light colored lines in certain areas for contrast? For example going back to the magma mermaid, the lines containing her magma areas can perhaps be a light bright yellow or orange. That would help define the material more as being hot and molten. Another example would be giving the lizard a dark orange or yellow outline.

Overall, great piece, one of my favorites from you. I don't think you need to make any major changes, may be just experiment with a few aspects to see how things look. Looking forward to more as always <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
